Schedules & Scores Fields Wags Wear

Welcome to the WAGS Influential Women Series! Over the next few weeks we are going to highlight women making an impact in both sports and society. We’re going to start off by highlighting our 2018 WAGS Tournament Scholarship recipients!

First up, we have Jordan Davis. Jordan played club for LMVSC and is currently finishing up her Freshman year at Bridgewater College.  You can learn a little bit more about Jordan and her journey below.

1. How did WAGS scholarship empower you?

The WAGS scholarship empowered me because I was able to tell my truth about living in an era where it’s uncommon for people that look like me to play soccer, let alone have the dream to want to continue playing soccer in college. This scholarship showcases diversity and integrity to where I finally feel accepted in not only society, but the entire Women and Girls in Soccer. This scholarship is more than a title. This scholarship is more than money. This scholarship is recognition and owning who I am on and off the soccer field.

2. What do you enjoy most about college?

I enjoy the luxury of meeting new people from different areas. These people teach me a lot about myself and who I want to be moving forward. My professors are the best thing about my college because they are all true to their students and studies.

3. Who is your favorite female athlete and why?

My favorite athlete is Serena Williams. Serena Williams is a world-renowned tennis superstar that has been through tremendous trials and tribulations including having a baby, accused of steroid use, racism, etc. and still finds the internal strength and power to overcome vicious attacks. Serena Williams is an unstoppable beast on the court and an amazing leader and mother off the court and I strive for her determinism and grace. She refuses to let society determine her actions or beliefs and behaves with the outmost dignity that most of her counterparts will never have to face.
