For many players competing at the WAGS Tournament, college soccer is the next dream.
But October is also one of the busiest times of the college soccer season, making it difficult for many college coaches to be on the sidelines at recruiting events. WAGS is working to help bridge that gap.
Through partnerships with Nutmeg Sports Media and The Sport Source, WAGS is giving players additional tools to connect with college programs and make the most of their tournament experience.
Tournament games will be available for college coaches to watch remotely, giving players another opportunity to be seen even when a coach can’t attend in person. Through The Sport Source’s search engine, MatchFit, players also have access to recruiting resources designed to help them research programs, build their player résumé and prepare for outreach.
But WAGS wants players to do more than simply hope a coach finds them.
Start With Your Top 5
Before the tournament, players are encouraged to identify the five college programs they most want to connect with, reach out, share their WAGS schedule and let those coaches know they can follow their games remotely.
It’s about helping players take an active role in their own recruiting journey — and giving them the tools to do it. With The Sports Source’s build in search engine called MatchFit, players can easily look for schools that are the right fit so they can continue playing in soccer.
For coaches,
For more than 50 years, WAGS has been committed to creating opportunities for women and girls in soccer. Today, that also means thinking about what comes next.
